As you stroll through its charming streets, you’ll find grand palaces, bustling markets, and world-renowned beer gardens, each offering a unique glimpse into the soul of this remarkable city. Whether you’re a history buff eager to explore centuries-old architecture, a foodie on the hunt for authentic German cuisine, or a traveler simply looking to soak in the local vibe, Munich has something to enchant every visitor.

Hotel Bayerischer Hof is one of Munich’s most iconic hotels and typically considered the grand dame in this city. Originally conceived by King Ludwig I in the early 19th century, the hotel has been frequented by royalty, celebrities, and dignitaries over the years. It includes a rooftop pool, multiple gourmet restaurants, a spa, and a theater. Situated in the heart of Munich, close to Marienplatz and major attractions, the Hotel Bayerischer owes much of its popularity to its prime location, with ready access to Munich’s historic center where shopping and Bavarian architecture provide a picturesque backdrop.

Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, opened in 1858 as the Zu den vier Jahreszeiten, was one of many jewels in a magnificent boulevard that quickly became known as one of the most prestigious addresses in Europe. Though thoroughly modern in many ways, the original classic gothic architecture and furnishings in the lobby take you back to the traditional grand property. The hotel’s central location on Maximilianstraße can’t be beat. The famed Bavarian State Opera House and the Bavarian State Ballet reside on the famous avenue, as do boutiques like Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Mandarin Oriental, has led something of a varied existence, though its fantastic neo-Renaissance façade has survived intact. When it opened in 1800, the building opened as the Centralsäle in glorious fashion with a packed masked ball. Head up to the hotel’s rooftop terrace to enjoy the stunning city views with an expertly made alfresco cocktail and stay for a moonlit dinner and dine on a mix of Asian, Mediterranean and Arabic fare.

Hotel München Palace is situated in Bogenhausen, a wonderful part of the city with excellent restaurants and cafés, a first-rate theater and art museum, and a brief walk from the English Garden across the river Isar. The inner courtyard’s garden is nothing short of supremely lovely. In warmer months, guests can take breakfast, lunch and dinner here, or sip a cool drink on a summer’s afternoon before heading off to the nearby theater. While the hotel is in Bogenhausen, the city center is only a leisurely five minutes or so away.

Whether you’re a history buff eager to explore centuries-old architecture, a foodie on the hunt for authentic German cuisine, or a traveler simply looking to soak in the local vibe, Munich has something to enchant every visitor.
